Our meeting at Holy Trinity Social Club FISH, CHIPS AND SHOPS July 2008 |
Your reporter has to confess that, with even greater confusion and incompetence than usual, he did not write up this event until six months after it. But he remembers a not very fine July day and everyone arriving by all available means, including Ted Garbutt's wonderful Morris Minor. | As usual Barbara Presland and Bill Pope were at the door to welcome everyone in.
Reg Aston had set up a display of photos and, as our
talk of the day was about a toy shop, a display of old
toys. On the left is our rather alcoholic looking table of raffle prizes. | A headless Henry talks with a backless John as Henry sets up the video and sound systems. On the floor Ted prays for a result in setting up his model railway - he got it. And in the middle of the track a newly arrived Bilston knight stands guard.
Mrs. and Mrs. E. Woolley check in, whilst Alma Darby and her sister, and Kath Kiely and friend, have a natter ... | ... as do Reg and Sandra Aston and John and Brenda Elwell, down from Ripon for the day.
George Phillpot and others join them. | And soon the room starts filing up, with everyone waiting for the fish and chips to arrive ...
... which they soon do, so that everyone can tuck in to a traditional feast. | I can see Rose Hartill, Henry Metzger, David Plant and lots of others. |
And here we have Reg Summerfield, Barry Hodgson, Gerald Hanrahan and the photographer whose name escapes me sorry! |
