Our meeting on 13th May 2006 HEALTH IN BILSTONat Holy Trinity Church Hall, Oxford Street |
It was a cold, overcast day with rain forecast - and cup final day. But nevertheless there was a good turn out and here is Bill Pope checking on attendance... | ... while our treasurer, Barbara Presland, maintains the funds by selling raffle tickets. We had our usual good selection of prizes, lead, also as usual, by an enormous basket of fruit brought along by John Elwell. We are grateful to everyone who contributed prizes.
Our main theme for the day was Health in Bilston,
hence all the ladies dressed up as nurses. Here
our President, Trevor Genge, anxiously inspects Megan
Fitzgerald-Plummer, whose goggle glasses seem to have
put her a bit off beam. It was good to see David Fitzgerald-Plummer looking fit - and well enough to help out with everything, as usual. |
Alma Darby, our secretary, and Barbara Presland, get ready to take notes. Perhaps they are about to writ down our President's wise words "We do not suffer from madness here - we thoroughly enjoy it".
It was very good to see Reg Aston back after his operation and looking remarkably well. Sandra is obviously looking after him. In the background is Jim Speakman and on the right are Ruth Speakman and John Elwell. | Reg had brought along another great display of photos ...
... and a whole lot of artefacts related to health and fitness. | This is Ron Loach's display about Sankey's, where he had worked for may years. He had also brought along a few of his large collection of the later Bilston enamels, which had been made by Bilston Enterprise Ltd, for whom he had later worked. His story of that company is on our web site here. |
