Sandra Aston issued Christmas crackers, running
around at high speed to demonstrate the success of her hip
operation. It was good to see her back in such lithe action. In the centre here is Marion Smith and, to the right, is
Agnes Watton
|
|
More stalwarts in the foreground here - Olive
Topliss and her son, Peter. |
To the far right here is Arthur Weston and the
blonde lady in the centre is Olga Hammond. Our Chairman, Alan
Bickley (just visible in front of the screen) welcomed everyone ... |
|
... carefully watched by his good lady, Isobel, who
was lighting up the event with some well judged flashing ear rings. |
|
|
Then the Chairman said that the food was now ready
and the members showed a good turn of speed towards the heavily
laden tables. |
|
Henry took time out to talk to a Christmas Tree ... |
... before starting to show a number of his short
films. This one showed the Morris dancers at St. Leonard's church -
which made a visual and musical accompaniment to the buffet.
At the far left are Mr and Mrs Roy France; the second lady from
the left is Mrs. Hammond; and on the far right are Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Weston.

After that Alma conducted a quiz on Bilston history,
which Megan had prepared. We will not record the scores here but
merely express the hope that next year the questions are easier.
But the winners did respectably well and duly got a prize - as did
second and third. |
|
|
Alma's excellent conduct of the quiz was carefully
watched by her husband, Gary, her sister, Kathleen, and her niece.
And somewhere at about this time our Vice-President, John
Elwall, turned comedian and regaled the company with jokes and
stories. But your reporter seems not to have a photograph of
this event. Sorry!
