"Springtime in Bilston"
at St Leonard's Church

For one of our regular meetings we returned to St. Leonard's - which is a pleasant, central venue and has a nice coffee shop.  On this occasion the Rev. Chris Thorpe did not join us as that energetic and hardworking gentleman has been given a well deserved sabbatical.  We are grateful to the Curate and everyone else at St. Leonard's for their hospitality.

Barbara, Alma and Kath On Jim Speakman's bright suggestion our theme was Springtime and Easter.  Here are Barbara, Alma and Kath suitable rigged out in Easter bonnets. Kath Kiely, Sandra Aston and Alma Darby had their likenesses taken by Reg Aston. It was a day of sunshine and cloud and during a sunny interval Kath Kiely, Sandra Aston and Alma Darby had their likenesses taken by Reg Aston.
Inside Bill Pope was helping Barbara Presland on the door.  They checked in nearly 70 people during the course of the day.  And we had a raffle too.  The prizes were a variety of chocolate Easter eggs - many thanks to the donors.  Jim Speakman also hid some smaller Easter eggs around the church foyer for youngsters and the young at heart to search for. Bill Pope Sandra Aston put on a display of her ever growing collection of wedding photos and memorabilia ...... if that is a suitable word for dresses, veils and the like.  That's Kath Keily's wedding veil on the right, which she had lent for the occasion. Sandra Aston put on a display of her ever growing collection of wedding photos and memorabilia .
Kath Keily's wedding veil on the right, Gerald Hanrahan brought along a display by John George of the Wolverhampton Photographic Society.    These were beautiful and moving images recording one man's life during the First World War. a display by John George of the Wolverhampton Photographic Society.Reg Aston and Frank Sharman also had a display of Bilston made brass and copperware, all suitably decorated with daffodils, primulas and the like.  But your reporter does not seem to have a photo of it - perhaps he was too dazzled by the display to think straight.
