REMEMBERING VE DAY Part 3
Our meeting on Saturday 14th May at the
Lunt Community Association

George Philpot Our stalwart member, George Philpot, points to a photograph of himself in the Home Guard, amongst Reg's photos.  George was posing for the Bugle's photographer.  They also assembled all the committee and lots of others for a group photo - and we all had to wave Union Jacks!  Luckily there were a lot of them around. Megan Fitzgerald Plummer An important feature of all our meetings is the tea, sandwiches and cake.  There were available in profusion under the cheerful aegis of Megan Fitzgerald Plummer, seen here cheering up Gerald Hanrahan.  (But who's that doing the washing up?).
And Gerald got his coat off and settled down to a good chat in the tea room.  With him are Maragaret and Arthur Weston; Gerald got his coat off The catering and other arrangements were much assisted, throughout the day, by Gladys, who kindly dropped by from the 1940s to help out.

Who Gladys is (or was) no one knew but several people noticed that David Fitzgerald Plummer was nowhere to be seen all day.

Sylvia  and Margaret, Bill.  Sisters, Muriel Lines and Joyce Briscoe And still they come.  Bill looks after the pence and the pounds, and Sylvia  and Margaret look after Bill.  Sisters, Muriel Lines and Joyce Briscoe, wait to sign in.

Now at this point your reporter has to admit that he left.  He had to go to display the Bilston Knights at the collectors' day at Bantock House.  But apparently the rest of the day went well, with about 70 people or so coming along, even though, for many of our members, the Lunt is a bit out of the way.  In mid-afternoon the raffle was drawn (and, as usual, your reporter won nothing) and Alma and Kath lead some rousing choruses of war time numbers.
