It was cold, misty and grey when we met once again
at the Baptist Church in Prouds Lane. Our thanks go again to the
Reverend David Evans and his church members for the use of their
excellent facilities which kept us warm and bright. |
|
There was an excellent attendance of members and
guests, both in the morning and in the afternoon. Our committee
member, Bill Pope was one of those who manned the table at the
entrance. |
One member was obviously anxious to make a point to
the Vice-Chairman, Jim Speakman, while our Treasurer, Derek Barratt,
keeps a cheerful eye on the antics. |
|
Derek had good reason to look confident. He had
brought with him a clicking knife, from Edge's shoe factory. But he
had other methods of getting contributions from members and guests. |
|
|
The formal business of the day was our Annual
General Meeting, which is seen here being addressed by our Chairman,
Alan Bickley. With him are our new President, Trevor Genge, and
other committee members. Alan reviewed the year, Derek presented
the year's accounts, and Trevor gave an amusing address. |
|
We had a number of displays, as we usually do. Kath
Kiely had a large range of material, which in this photo is just
hidden behind Reg Aston, who is discussing some of his display with
guests. |
Our theme for this meeting was the Bradley Marathon
and Reg had, as he always seems able to do, produced a number of
photos and other memorabilia of the event. | |
Reg had also produced a map of the course and
borrowed several of the medals which were issued to the runners.
We hope to write up everything we have now found out about the
Marathon and to put it on this web site. |

One of those attending was Ron Woodyatt. who had run
in several of the Marathons and it was mostly his medals we had on
display. | |
